Jamie Carragher was blown away by Liverpool defender Andy Robertson after his team’s crushing 5-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

The Reds cruised to three points at Anfield in the Premier League to move back to the top of the table and shift the pressure onto rivals Manchester City.

Naby Keita opened the scoring after 15 seconds for the Merseyside giants, while attackers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah netted two apiece.

Jurgen Klopp’s team moved two points clear of Manchester City after playing a game more and now turn their attention to the first leg of a Champions League semi-final with Barcelona.

Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Carragher highlighted man of the match Robertson following his display against Huddersfield.

The left-back provided two assists in the game with his brilliant crossing and was constantly bombing down the flank to support the attack.

He moved to Anfield for an initial £8million (BBC) back in 2017 that could rise to £10million and is such an influential player in Klopp’s team.

“He’s been unbelievable really. I think when he first signed a lot of people thought squad player after coming from Hull being relegated and [costing] £8million,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ main event channel (10:05pm, 26 April).

“You look at the full-back positions it’s £8million for two players. One has come through the ranks at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson a brilliant signing from Hull.

“Took a while to get going, that’s another thing that Jurgen Kloopp does with new signings. He didn’t really feature much in the early parts of last season, but right now he is the best left-back in the league.”

Robertson is flying high as one of the best left-backs in world football right now and he looks unstoppable in a Liverpool shirt.

The Scotland international has now supplied a remarkable 13 assists across all competitions this season, with 11 coming in the Premier League.

His accurate crossing into the penalty area has become a serious weapon for the Reds and his energy out wide is infectious.

Carragher did point out that he did have a slow start to life at Anfield, but he managed to overtake teammate Alberto Moreno in the pecking order and hasn’t looked back since.
