Everton were battered by Tottenham tonight as Frank Lampard was offered a firm dose of the reality he is facing up to with this Toffees squad.
Lampard’s side simply couldn’t get near Tottenham all night and were out of the game by half-time, as Spurs went into the second 45 already 3-0 up on the night. More woe was to follow, as Harry Kane and Sergio Reguilon added more goals to ensure the game finished 5-0. On another night, too, Tottenham might have scored more.

Watching tonight was Merseyside football specialist Jamie Carragher. The Sky Sports pundit was left shocked by what he saw and at half-time admitted he felt Everton’s defence was a ‘Championship back four’ However, he did admit he felt sorry for experienced Toffee, Seamus Coleman.
“When you talk about a team being too good to go down. Well with this Everton team it’s because of the attacking players, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin etc. But this Everton back four is a Championship back four, there’s absolutely no doubt whatsoever. Seamus Coleman I actually feel sorry for. He’s been a great full-back for them, but right now this is happening far too much,” Carragher said on Sky.
TBR’s View: Coleman Getting A Case Of Gary Neville
We all remember seeing Neville having a nightmare against West Brom before calling it a day and Neville himself has admitted he knew he was done. Now, could the same be happening to Coleman?
As Carragher says, the Irishman has been excellent for Everton but he seems to be slipping by the wayside now.
Of course, he isn’t alone in the Toffees’ defensive problems. But he is part of it, and he must be wondering how he can address his performances.
