Jamie Carragher insists that Jose Mourinho will be a success at Tottenham if he can maintain top four football at the North London club.
The Portuguese boss has succeed Mauricio Pochettino as the Spurs manager and kickstarted his reign with a 3-2 away victory against West Ham in the Premier League.
Spurs have finished in the top four of the league during the last four consecutive seasons and become Champions League regulars.
But they sit 10th in the table as it stands after a rocky start and the club’s hierarchy acted with a change of management.
Pundit Carragher feels Mourinho has arrived to try help the club get over the line for silverware, as Pochettino failed to win a trophy despite making a brilliant impact during five years in charge.
But ultimately Carrahger insists that success for Mourinho is maintaining a top four finish.
“I’m not going to judge Jose Mourinho as we’ve always judged him before at every other club in saying he’s got to win the league, he’s got to win the Champions League,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (7:25pm, 25 November).
“I don’t think Jose Mourinho will win the league at Tottenham or the Champions League because I don’t think it’s a club set up to do that. Success for Pochettino was getting in the top four and we lauded him for that, so if Jose does the same they should laud him also.”

TBR’s View:
Mourinho is renowned for winning silverware and surely that’s the main reason behind Spurs appointing him their manager, as the trophies weren’t arriving despite the progress made by Pochettino.
They could make a real crack at the FA Cup when they enter the competition, but the main challenge for the rest of the campaign has to be trying to earn a top four finish.
Spurs are currently nine points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea and are going to have to be extremely consistent to ensure they remain in the Champions League next year.
