Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher doesn’t understand why David Moyes would not be welcomed back to Everton if he was the man to replace Marco Silva.
Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, 25/11, 10:48pm, Carragher was keen to point out that the Scot shouldn’t be judged on solely how he’s done since leaving Goodison Park in 2013.
He said: “I’ve spoken to a lot of Everton fans over the weekend, I’ve got a lot of Everton fans in my family. Everyone you mention, they say no. There’s talk of David Moyes coming back. They’re so against that, you would not believe. I can’t believe, considering the job that he done there. It’s like they’re judging him on what he’s done since he left.
“I don’t quite get this animosity towards David Moyes. The job he did for Everton was out of this world. It’s got to be a more up and at ’em. It was like that with David Moyes. You didn’t want to go to Goodison Park. Nearly every big team went there and got beat.”

TBR’s View – Getting Moyes in will feel like a massive step back
Going back for the same manager Everton had six years when they had little money will feel like a giant step backwards for the fans, and understandably so.
They are entitled to have bigger visions than going back to the manager who did great things for them on a budget but who has flopped wherever he’s been since leaving Merseyside.
That would explain the animosity towards the appointment, and Moyes hasn’t had his side playing front foot football since 2013. There must be better options out there.
