Jamie Carragher claims Liverpool are in ‘crisis’ – these three XI’s prove him hilariously wrong

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Liverpool are in a ‘crisis’ at the moment under Arne Slot, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Liverpool legend turned Sky Sports pundit said: “To see the champions lose 4 games in a row in the Premier League with the expenditure in the summer, I think we’re in crisis time for Liverpool right now,” he said.

“Losing four games in a row for Brentford would be a disaster. For any promoted team. You can’t lose four on the bounce.”

It’s bad at Liverpool, but we wouldn’t exactly call it a crisis. The Reds have some of the world’s best players in their ranks, and with some tactical tweaks, should be back to business as usual.

So, to remind Mr Jamie Carragher, here are three times the Reds were actually in crisis mode.

Stoke City 6 – 1 Liverpool (2015) – Steven Gerrard’s final game

Steven Gerrard’s final game as a Liverpool player ended in sheer and utter embarrassment, with a 6-1 loss to Stoke City ending the Reds legend’s tenure at the club.

The result saw Liverpool remain fifth, finishing outside of the elusive Champions League spots.

The starting XI on the day fielded by Brendan Rodgers epitomised the ludicrousness surrounding the Reds pre-Jurgen Klopp. Not to mention those substitutes.

Liverpool 2 – 2 Northampton Town (Northampton win 4-2 on penalties, 2010, League Cup)

Probably one of the most embarrassing defeats in the history of Liverpool FC came back in 2010, when Roy Hodgson lost to Northampton in the EFL Cup.

Fresh off the back of a defeat to Manchester United, the Reds then failed to dispatch opponents 69 league places below them.

Just look at that lineup. Yikes. Slot has had a tough time, but it’s nothing like the crisis under Hodgson.

Liverpool 1-2 Wigan (2012) – Kenny Dalglish made history for the wrong reasons

Wigan got their first-ever win at Anfield in 2012, with Liverpool’s desperate run of league form under Kenny Dalglish continuing.

The defeat was Liverpool’s fifth in their last six Premier League games, against a Latics side that were fighting relegation.

The defeat foreshadowed the end of King Kenny’s short-lived reign at Anfield, and the team fielded will likely still strike fear into the hearts of Reds supporters.

Doesn’t look so bad now, does it, Carragher?
