Jamie Carragher chooses between Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola have given us some truly wonderful Premier League title races over the years.

For instance, the 2018-19 season saw the Reds finish second with a record 97 points, while the Citizens were top with a staggering 98 points.

Liverpool got their revenge the following season when they finished 18 points clear of Manchester City to win their first title since 1990.

But then, the Citizens pipped an equally impressive Liverpool to the title once again in 2021-22, with 93 points to the Reds’ 92.

And then we have the many other trophies won by Guardiola and Klopp over the years, including four Champions Leagues between them for all clubs.

Put simply, both managers are right up there amongst the greatest managers of all time.

But when it comes to ‘winner stays on’, who is the best, according to Jamie Carragher?

Did Jamie Carragher pick Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola?

On Wednesday night, Thierry Henry quizzed Carragher in a video posted by Sky Sports Premier League and shared on the Liverpool icon’s X account.

First up in the test of the greatest managers of all time (in all competitions) was Rafael Benitez against Fabio Capello, with Carragher picking the latter.

Vicente del Bosque was then picked ahead of Capello, before Carragher then opted for Jose Mourinho over the Spaniard.

Carragher then went with Johan Cruyff over Mourinho, but opted for Guardiola over the iconic Dutchman.

And then we come to Guardiola v Klopp, and Carragher opted for pragmatism over club allegiances by picking Guardiola.

Finally, the City boss was up against Sir Alex Ferguson, and the Liverpool cult hero opted for the Manchester United legend, who was declared the winner.

Despite his Anfield allegiance, Carragher remained unbiased. And as great as Klopp has been for the likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, when it comes to overall record, Guardiola is ahead.

Let’s see whether this season will end with Guardiola’s Man City being ahead of Liverpool though. The title race is still wide open and there’s very little between the three teams involved.
