If there is a most improved player award at Everton’s end of season shindig, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has to be the recipient. Much maligned by the Evertonian faithful for a series of poor displays the England under-21 star has come into his own in recent weeks.
His hard work, ability in the air and tenacious style has helped Everton find form and force themselves into seventh place in the Premier League.

He has even impressed Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher. Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football last night (22/04/2019) he even suggested that ‘DCL’ has given Everton a big decision to make:
“It has given Everton a decision to make in the summer. Do they go big on a striker or bring in someone to supplement? They’ve got Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, young players who they want to give a chance.”
Everton have never replaced Romelu Lukaku since his big-money move to Manchester United. But during the 4-0 win over the Red Devils at the weekend, Calvert-Lewin looked like the £75 million striker.
Everton fans have been craving a new striker for some time with various big names and fees being mentioned to fill that void.
But Calvert-Lewin has improved immensely and shown he has to be considered as a first-team regular next term. Yet, his goal tally, just eight goals in 36 games needs to improve before he can be considered ready to lead Everton to the next level and perhaps push into the top six.
