James Tavernier has told Rangers’s official website that he thought that Cedric Itten was brilliant as the Gers picked another victory in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Steven Gerrard’s men now sit nine points clear at the top of the table. Rangers won 1-0 at Kilmarnock in a hard-fought victory for the league leaders.

It was Tavernier who got the only goal. He once again scored from the penalty spot to take his tally for the season to 10 goals in all competitions.
But the Gers skipper felt compelled to single out Itten’s performance following the victory.

“Cedric did a brilliant job for us today,” he told the club’s official website.
“He’s been on the sidelines watching and has seen Kemar and Alfredo get the headlines – but credit to him, he’s a great professional.
“He has been working really hard on the training pitch and he was asked to come in to the team today and he did himself and the team proud.”
It looked to be a fantastic opportunity for Itten to impress. As Tavernier notes, some of his teammates have taken the headlines in recent times. So it seemed quite important that the summer signing did do well.
He has previously shown how lethal he can be in front of goal. But he demonstrated another side to his game at Rugby Park.
Itten caused plenty of problems for the home side. His hold-up play was often excellent. And he did come close to scoring in the win.
It was certainly a performance that highlighted how Itten definitely has a key role to play as Rangers push for glory on several fronts this season.
