‘Different class’: James Tarkowski in awe of Everton teammate post-Brentford, amid reports he’s set to leave Goodison

Everton picked themselves up a valuable point away at Brentford today as they just failed to hang on to Anthony Gordon’s 24th minute goal.

A late equaliser from Vitaly Janelt ensured it was a share of the spoils for the Toffees and the Bees. Frank Lampard will be happy to take a point in the end, but will have a nag of disappointment about his team failing to quite see out the victory in the end.

Of course, a lot of talk at Everton this week has been about goalscorer Gordon. Chelsea are continuing to pursue him and have been making bid bids of over £50m. But as yet, Everton are yet to accept and Gordon stuck to his task by getting on the scoresheet today. And speaking about Gordon after the game, teammate James Tarkowski was full of praise for the speedy forward.

“He has been different class. All the paper talk and all the speculation, to be fair he just cracks on. Whatever comes will happen, but I love having him on my team. There is a reason why teams are after him,” Tarkowski told the BBC after the game.

TBR’s View: Gordon Shows Why Chelsea Want Him

There is a lot to like about Anthony Gordon and while he remains a raw talent of sorts, the evidence of his ability was there for all to see today.

He took his goal very well and Everton will do well to end up keeping him before the deadline passes by on Thursday.

For Everton today, this was a good point. Brentford are a good side so come the end of the season, Lampard will probably see the value in this result rather than the disappointment.
