Tottenham Hotspur could snap up James Rodriguez this summer, according to a report from Canal RCN. They claim that Real Madrid might use the Colombian as swapping bait to lower the price of Harry Kane, amid continued reports the England international could leave this summer.

It would see Rodriguez potentially replace Christian Eriksen, who left Tottenham for Inter Milan in January.

Whilst Mourinho may have made some scathing remarks about Rodriguez’s work-rate after his performance for Bayern Munich against Liverpool last season, there is a lot to consider regarding this link.

Firstly, both the Tottenham boss and the Colombian star are represented by Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.

As for Rodriguez, well he would be happy to work under Mourinho. As reported by OK Diario in 2018, whilst Rodriguez was out on loan at Bayern, the Colombian was more than happy at the prospect of Mourinho potential returning to the Bernabeu, as was being speculated at the time.

It came amid rumours of Mourinho potentially bringing Rodriguez to Manchester United, as reported by The Mirror.

Now it seems the option to bring James in could once again be made to Mourinho.
