Arne Slot had massive shoes to fill at Liverpool when he replaced Jurgen Klopp at Anfield earlier this year.

The Dutchman has been thrown in at the deep end as he’s tasked with replacing arguably the greatest manager in Liverpool’s history.

The Arne Slot era is now underway, and while he’s yet to manage a competitive game for Liverpool, things seem to be going well in pre-season.

Speaking on the Walk On Podcast, James Pearce has been discussing the beginning of the Slot era, and he shared some interesting insight.

The journalist says that he’s spoken to some players about Slot’s training sessions, and he says that many of Liverpool’s stars have been raving about the standard of the Dutchman’s training.

What Liverpool players have said about Arne Slot’s training

Pearce shared what he’s been told about Slot.

“There are eight senior players on this trip who won’t work with Slot until next week. But framed in this context you can really see the benefits of the double sessions,” Pearce said.

“Speaking to players over here, they have been raving about his sessions, he has been very hands on. While Klopp left Pep Lijnders to handle the training regime, Slot is constantly stopping drills telling them what he wants and marching around.”

Arne Slot has replaced Pep Lijnders

Arne Slot’s job at Liverpool is to replace Jurgen Klopp, but Slot is also acting as the club’s Pep Lijnders replacement.

When Klopp left, many of his coaches also departed, and it mustn’t be forgotten that Pep Lijnders was so important to Liverpool’s success as well, hence why Lijnders was tipped to even replace Klopp at one point.

Lijnders used to run most training sessions, but now, Slot has taken up that responsibility, and it sounds as though he’s doing this job to a very high standard.

The Arne Slot era is just getting started, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about the future on Merseyside.
