The transfer window is upon us, and that means that there are going to be so many rumours doing the rounds over the next few weeks.
Indeed, silly season is here, and with so many reporters sharing different pieces of news from different sources there’s bound to be some crossed-wires somewhere.
James Pearce is one of the most reliable journalists on the Liverpool beat at the moment, and speaking on The Kop Council, the reporter has shared an update on the Reds’ transfer plans.
Pearce says that he’s not had any positive news on the transfer front out of his Liverpool sources for a while.
Pearce says that every time he chases up a rumour it gets knocked back, claiming that he’s been told there’s nothing in either of the stories about Nico Williams or Riccardo Calafiori.
What Liverpool have said about Nico Williams
Pearce shared what he’s been hearing.
“For weeks and weeks we have been linked with so many players and people cling to rumours, but pretty much every rumour there has been that I have checked out I’ve been told it’s nonsense, agent talk.
It’s not been as bad this week, but there was that one day where Nico Williams was coming, and then Calafiori the centre-half, each time you check these things and they say there’s nothing in it, there’s literally nothing in it,” Pearce said.

Liverpool transfers can come from nowhere
While there doesn’t seem to be an abundance of reliable transfer rumours surrounding Liverpool at the moment, it’s worth remembering that the Reds can get deals done from out of nowhere.
Indeed, the likes of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Fabinho all signed without much noise around the deals beforehand, and that could happen again this summer.
Liverpool are very good at keeping their cards close to their chests, and while rumours around the likes of Williams are being played down at the moment, don’t be shocked if these sorts of moves materialise later down the line.
