Liverpool chiefs have a strong admiration for Jude Bellingham and would like to bring him to Anfield in 2022, but face a tough task convincing Dortmund to part ways with the teenager.
That’s according to The Athletic’s James Pearce, who has written about Bellingham and Liverpool in answering questions from fans today. Within those questions, the topic of Bellingham emerges, and Pearce reports that he is a player of interest at Anfield.
However, any hopes Reds fans have of this being a simple deal to do are in for bad news. Pearce claims it would take a club-record £90m+ offer for Bellingham. Further, it’s suggested that Dortmund would play hardball, knowing their star midfielder is wanted around Europe.

Paying £90m would eclipsed the current record at Liverpool by some margin. That stands at £75m, which the Reds parted ways with to bring in Virgil van Dijk. However, that has been a masterstroke, so if the right player is there, then the club have shown they’re willing.
Bellingham has once again been outstanding for Dortmund this season. He’s already clocked up nine assists in 25 games, chipping in with another three goals along the way.
TBR’s View: If Liverpool Get Bellingham It Sends A Huge Message
In the summer, Manchester City went out and splashed £100m on Jack Grealish. It was a statement of intent from City, and showed the league they are still top dogs.
But if Liverpool can do the same with Bellingham, it will send shockwaves. Not just to City, but to everyone else trying to compete at the top of the tree. Bellingham is, after all, one of the very best young players in world football.
It would be a sensational piece of business for Liverpool, this. Of course, the £90m is a big ask. But of all the players in world football, you could easily argue that Bellingham is worth the fee.
