James McFadden has told BBC Sportsound that he thinks Aberdeen will look to keep midfielder Lewis Ferguson this summer, as the impressive Scot continues to be linked with a move to Rangers this summer.
Still only 20 years of age, Ferguson has already clocked up 82 appearances in all competitions for The Dons – scoring 11 times and creating another 17. A terrier in the middle of the park, he is renowned for his excellent work rate and eye for goal.
Ferguson, who is the son of ex-Rangers star Derek and nephew of Ibrox legend Barry, is already on the verge of a senior call-up. Barry himself has told the Sun: “I think he would be a very good signing for them [Rangers].”
The Scottish Sun have claimed that Rangers are interested in signing Ferguson this summer but Scotland hero McFadden thinks Aberdeen will look to keep Ferguson – and will not sell the midfielder purely for financial reasons.
“Aberdeen have shown in the past with the bids for Scott McKenna that they don’t have to sell, they won’t sell on the cheap,” McFadden said. “I don’t think they’d be keen to sell him to Rangers either. If Aberdeen want to keep him then he’ll stay.”

TBR’s view – Ferguson would be a stunning Rangers signing
Ferguson embodies everything that Steven Gerrard wants at Rangers. Young but already experienced in Scottish football, tenacious, determind but also boasting enormous quality on the ball and in front of goal, Ferguson is a top, top player.
He is only going to get better. Yes, Ferguson is still raw in some aspects and is only proven at the level of Scottish football. At Rangers, he would have to shine in the Europa League as well as helping Rangers win week in, week out.
But given his age and that he is already showing the kind of quality expected of someone much older than he is, Ferguson would be an excellent signing that can finally see Rangers match Celtic’s quality in the middle of the park.
