Leicester City are facing a fight to keep hold of star man James Maddison this summer.
According to The Mirror, Spurs are preparing a big-money swoop on the Foxes to secure one of the country’s brightest prospects.
The 22-year-old has five goals and four assists to his name this season.
The report indicates that Tottenham could pounce should Christian Eriksen depart with Real Madrid lurking around the Dane.
Maddison arrived at the King Power Stadium from Norwich City during the summer and is going well this season.
It does seem unlikely at this stage in development, however, that he would get in Spurs’ team.
Should the attacker make the switch to North London he would be competing for a place with Dele Alli.
The England man is one of the first names on the team-sheet at Spurs and Maddison’s chances of first-team football would look considerably bleak.
A chance to work with better quality players each and every day would benefit him but there is no substitute for playing games.
Maddison has been given a great opportunity in the East Midlands and he has played in all but two of the Foxes’ games this season.
There is no rush for the man tipped by many as a star in the making.
Playing week in, week out, should mean more to Maddison than jumping to a bigger club at the first sniff of interest.
The mercurial talent is by no means the finished article and moving to Spurs at this stage could set him back several years.
