James Maddison has joked that he will not be able to look at Son Heung-min for a while after the Tottenham Hotspur captain got in his way just as the attacking midfielder was through on goal.
Maddison was speaking to BBC Sport after Spurs beat Fulham 2-0 to move back to the top of the Premier League table on Monday.
Both James Maddison and Son Heung-min managed to get on the scoresheet. For Maddison, it was a significant goal as it was his first at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for his new club.

But he will definitely feel that he should have bagged a brace. Maddison burst into the box at one stage, seemingly about to have a shot at Bernd Leno.
James Maddison jokes he cannot look at Son Heung-min after Tottenham win
However, at the crucial moment, there was clearly a misunderstanding. Son got close enough to Maddison that he clearly expected to have the shot himself. And thus, the 26-year-old was off his stride by the time he got his strike away.

Maddison could not hide his frustration in the immediate aftermath. Son meanwhile, looked to be almost baffled. And the former Leicester City man suggested that he needed some time to calm down with his £22 million teammate.
“We didn’t get in each other’s way, he got in my way! I haven’t spoken to him, I can’t look at him at the minute,” he told BBC Sport.
“I’ll speak to him tomorrow. I was right in front of the goal and he was facing the wrong way but even he’s allowed to make one mistake.”
Understanding building, but not quite telepathic…yet
Obviously, the good news is that it did not cost Tottenham. But clearly, Maddison would have loved to put the exclamation point on the victory at that point.
There were definitely more goals in the game for Spurs. That was arguably evident when Son looked incredibly disappointed to be substituted before the full-time whistle.
Given the understanding that the pair are building, there are going to be numerous opportunities for both Maddison and Son to add to their goal tallies over the course of the season.
But perhaps that moment highlighted that they still have a little work to do before their understanding is completely telepathic.
