James Maddison was amongst those to reply on Harry Kane on social media as the Bayern Munich star paid tribute to Eric Dier following his full debut for the club on Saturday.

Eric Dier played the full 90 minutes as the Bavarian giants secured a big win in the Bundesliga title race. It was Harry Kane who scored the goal which proved to the winner. The former Tottenham Hotspur talisman now has scored 27 goals for Thomas Tuchel’s side since his arrival.

The game also marked the first opportunity for Bayern fans to see Dier start a game. Dier made a surprise move to Germany earlier in the January transfer window, after Radu Dragusin snubbed Bayern to complete a move to Tottenham.

Dier is technically on loan from Spurs. However, with his contract set to expire in the summer, it looks to be a move which will, at least, mark the end of his Tottenham career.

And he will certainly be hoping to look as comfortable in the Bundesliga as Kane has done.

Kane has now taken to Instagram to comment on the win. And one of those to reply to the striker’s message about Dier was James Maddison, who has been exceptional for Spurs…

Fantastic move for defender

Dier thriving in Germany would suit absolutely everyone. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old did not appear to have a prominent place in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Tottenham will be disappointed that they did not manage to secure a fee for him at any stage. But his wages will presumably now be off the books. And that could potentially make a difference, either in this window or in the summer.

Bayern meanwhile, have now been given some encouragement in the title race. With Bayer Leverkusen drawing later on against Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern are just two points adrift of top spot with 15 games remaining.
