Celtic winger James Forrest has been speaking about his future and confirmed he wants to remain at the club for as long as possible.

The Scotland international, who has a biography coming out soon entitled Homegrown Hero, was speaking to the press ahead of Celtic’s upcoming clash with Livingston.

As reported by the BBC, Forrest was asked if he would sign a contract for life at Celtic if it was offered to him by the club right now.

His response highlighted his commitment to the Celtic cause, even if he acknowledged the quick-shifting nature of football.

“Obviously I want to play for as long as I can. I am still feeling good just now. I have always said I want to be at Celtic as long as I can.

“I know football can change. But as I said I am going to keep working hard to be here.”

Celtic fans will love the notion of Forrest going on to become a one-club man. The 28-year-old has been with the club since he was 11-years-old and in the past two seasons has really entered his prime.

Forrest has been linked with an exit before. As reported by Sky Sports in 2016, Forrest rejected a new deal at the club. That came amid a difficult working relationship with former boss Ronny Deila. The Norwegian left before Forrest, who went on to sign a new deal and become a star under Brendan Rodgers.

In January, the Scottish Sun reported that Liverpool were keen on Forrest, but nothing ever came of those reports.

Such a proposition might be hard for Celtic’s ‘homegrown hero’ to turn down. But right now, it seems he is very happy with the idea of staying at Parkhead for life.
