Jamaal Lascelles dedicates Manchester United victory to Newcastle’s fans

As per the Chronicle, Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles was hit by criticism from his own supporters after the 5-0 defeat against Leicester last month.

But the Englishman appears to be keen to show his affection for the supporters by dedicating the weekend victory over Manchester United to them, as per the club’s official website.

He said: “They travelled down there and we lost 5-0 so we do feel for the fans when things like that happen. It’s nice to bounce back and get a result for them. The atmosphere was great on Sunday, they were behind us for the whole game, and it makes a big difference when they do that.

“We’re very thankful for that and we’re just glad that we gave them three points. Things change really fast in football.”

TBR’s View – Lascelles was a misguided target for the ire of the fans

Lascelles, as the skipper, got it in the neck from some supporters after the Leicester farce but he has been a strong leader through a tough period for the club.

He got the armband because he’s not scared to speak his mind and he does give his all every time he steps on the pitch.

He shouldn’t have been singled out in that way and showed what he can do in the weekend victory over United, keeping their attack very quiet indeed.
