Southampton wish the season would end now

As far as Southampton are concerned, they can’t wait for this Premier League season to end.

Sitting ninth in the table, and unable to finish any higher than West Brom in eighth place, it’s not been the most exciting of seasons for the South Coast side at St Mary’s this season.

The Saints have only managed 17 home goals this season – for point of comparison, only bottom two sides Sunderland (16) and Middlesbrough (15) have managed less – and Claude Puel’s side have now only won two of their previous eight home fixtures in a disappointing campaign.

With fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal still to come before the end of the season, and it mathematically still possible to finish as low as 16^th, Southampton need to lift spirits pretty soon.
