Millwall produced a shock in the FA Cup Fourth Round, beating Everton 3-2 at The New Den on Saturday.
And standing firm at the heart of the Millwall defence was Jake Cooper, who produced a dominant and powerful display to see Millwall over the line.
Not only did he keep Everton’s attack quiet for most of the game, Cooper also scored one and assisted another, demonstrating his threat going forward.
Cooper’s impressive performance was a glimpse of what could have been for Rangers, who were linked with him in the summer.
Last July, Millwall made it clear that the 23-year-old was not for sale after Rangers submitted a £3m bid, The London Evening Standard reported.
But Cooper’s defensive masterclass against Premier League side Everton should ensure he remains a Rangers target.

Next summer, Rangers will be without Joe Worrall when his loan expires and Gareth McAuley will be coming towards the end of his career.
Looking ahead to the long-term future, Cooper is the ideal candidate to take Rangers into a new era.
The towering central defender was not just impressive against Everton but he has been a rock at the back for the Lions all season.
In 28 Championship games, Cooper has won a staggering 164 aerial duels, as well as making 163 clearances, as per Who Scored.
With five goals and six assists in the league as well, Cooper’s aerial threat has helped his side significantly. Without the ex-Reading man, Millwall would be in deep relegation trouble and he is the ideal summer target for Rangers.
