It appears Southampton may be losing patience with Mark Hughes. The Saints are no better off than they were last season under Mauricio Pellegrino and again are facing a relegation battle. With that in mind, they are being linked with the appointment of former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Bosz.
The latter would be a positive appointment. His excellent record with Heracles, Vitesse and Ajax cannot be underestimated. However, some will note the Dutchman’s poor tenure with Borussia Dortmund in his last managerial role. He lasted just six months at Signal Iduna
Park.
Not much went right for Bosz during his time at the German side. Injuries beset the team, players failed to perform and several new signings flopped.

However, there is one big positive from his reign which must have Southampton fans excited.
Bosz was in charge when Dortmund signed Jadon Sancho from Manchester City. Now whilst he did not directly recruit the player, he did immediately see his talent. Bosz handed Sancho his professional debut in October last year. A year later he won the Bundesliga Player of the Month. Now a fully-fledged England international valued at a reported £100 million, Bosz set him on this path.
Southampton fans will hope Bosz identifies some of the club’s own talent to follow Sancho’s footsteps if given the job.
