Jadon Sancho joined a number of Arsenal players in sending messages to Joe Willock after the midfielder scored another goal out on loan on Saturday.
Willock is proving to be a game-changing signing for Newcastle United. He had gone on a little run without a goal after scoring on his Magpies debut.
However, he has now won Steve Bruce’s side three points across his last two appearances. As well as scoring their equaliser against Spurs at the start of the month, he headed home the winner against West Ham on Saturday.
The win leaves Newcastle nine points clear of the bottom three with six games remaining.
But those contributions have arguably also seen Willock leave Mikel Arteta with some food for thought ahead of next season.
There are likely to be plenty of Arsenal supporters hoping that the 21-year-old returns to the fold at the Emirates. He has now scored three in just nine appearances for Newcastle.
With the Magpies looking set to stay up, perhaps letting him stay on Tyneside for another year may be a smart idea.
But if he continues to make an impact, Arteta may have little choice but to dash any hope Newcastle had of keeping him beyond this season.
Willock took to social media following the win. And he was lauded by a number of teammates, as well as Sancho, who played alongside the Arsenal youngster at youth level for England…
