Ben Jacobs has issued a positive update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Mykhaylo Mudryk on Twitter, with the journalist suggesting that talks held on Monday turned out to be very positive.
Arsenal fans must be divided at this stage over whether they think they are going to sign Mudryk or not. They have been linked with the Ukraine international for some time.

It is concerning that they have not agreed a deal just yet. But they clearly remain in the mix to sign the 22-year-old.

In fact, Jacobs has suggested that the Gunners have moved forward in their pursuit of the forward after previously making two bids which have been rejected.

He noted that Mudryk will be upset to not move to the Emirates this month. There is still a reluctance to go to Shakhtar Donetsk’s £88.4 million asking price. But Arsenal are seemingly getting closer to making an acceptable bid.
Of course, Arsenal will be wary of paying too much for Mudryk. He is an ‘incredible‘ talent with Champions League experience. But he is also somewhat unproven at domestic level.
He is also not yet the finished article. So it is not entirely clear what sort of value he could command in the years to come.
But it is doing Arsenal few favours if talks drag on throughout the entire month. Obviously, they would have hardly dreamed of being in a title race before the season started. But they are there now, five points clear at the summit. And they may have to be nearly perfect to keep Manchester City at bay.
So getting someone like Mudryk in as soon as possible could make a real difference.
