Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a day to forget for the Gunners today, despite seeing his side beat Watford 1-0 at The Emirates.
Aubameyang missed a penalty in the first half before getting a toe on the end of a Martin Odegaard cross when he was already stood in an offside position.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was more surprised at what Aubameyang did in the build up to Bukayo Saka seeing his first-half effort chalked off. The ball fell to Aubameyang just a eight yards out. But the Gabon striker struggled to gather it, which led to Saka firing in before being ruled offside.

And Wilshere told Sky Sports that Aubameyang will know full well he’s dropped a clanger in that moment.
“Yeah, he’ll know. He’ll know that 9 times out of 10 he brings that down and he finishes it. It’s a goal if he brings it down. He’ll know though, 100%, he’s a top striker,” Wilshere commented.
Aubameyang struggled throughout really but played the full 90 minutes as Alex Lacazette was the forward taken off.
TBR’s View: Not Aubameyang’s day but he’s still important for Arsenal
It won’t be a surprise to see ‘Auba’ taken off of penalties from now on after yet another miss. But he won’t be going missing from this starting XI any time soon.
Despite missing his chance today, Aubameyang is still vital for this young group of Arsenal players. He leads with his experience and in fairness to him, his work ethic has really upped recently.
All strikers have a bad day at the office. Aubameyang just happened to have his against Watford today after being in good form. The main thing, of course, is that Arsenal won the game again.
Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his team and won’t be too fussed to see Aubameyang come up with the odd miss.
