'He obviously wanted': Jack Wilshere shares his thoughts on Harry Kane joining Newcastle United

Jack Wilshere has had his say on rumours linking Newcastle United with a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

The Magpies are on cloud nine following their big-money takeover earlier this month. After years of frustration under Mike Ashley, Newcastle now have the potential to become a force in the Premier League.

The January transfer window will be the first opportunity for the new owners to show the world what they’re all about. Multiple big names have been linked with a move to the club already, but none bigger than Harry Kane.

Eurosport revealed a few days ago that Newcastle view Kane as an Alan Shearer-type signing. Financially, they’ll have no problem affording him, but will the Tottenham superstar agree to go there? Wilshere has his say!

Wilshere: Harry Kane won’t join Newcastle

He told TalkSport (Thursday, 04:45 pm): “I am not sure that he (Kane) will go to Newcastle in January.

“He obviously wanted to go to City. He talks about City, he talks about De Bruyne. I don’t know if Tottenham will sell.”

The only reason Kane wants to leave Tottenham is because he wants to win trophies, and he wants that now. Manchester City would’ve been perfect for his personal ambitions, but Newcastle don’t really check that box yet.

The Magpies, if the new owners get things right, can become a real force in the Premier League in five years time. However, there’s no way they can challenge for trophies as early as next season.

That will make it extremely difficult for Newcastle to convince Kane to join them in January or in the summer. However, if the new owners really want to send a message to every other team in the country, there’s no better player to sign than the England skipper.
