”Can do everything’: Jack Wilshere says West Ham have a player who’s even better than £39m Liverpool man

West Ham United managed a 1-1 draw with Lyon last night despite being down to ten men, and Declan Rice was once again one of the stars of the show in midfield.

Rice is one of the most in-demand midfielders in England thanks to his displays for the Hammers and England. Seen as pivotal for both and valued at more than £100m by West Ham insiders and David Moyes, any interested club is going to need to find big money this summer.

However, that money could be money well spent. Well, in the eyes of former West Ham and Arsenal man, Jack Wilshere, anyway. Taking to Twitter last night, Wilshere raved about Rice and in response to a fan’s question about Liverpool holding midfielder, Fabinho, Wilshere insisted the Hammers ace is even better.

Fabinho, who cost Liverpool a bargain £39m, has been outstanding for Jurgen Klopp as the Reds have won Champions Leagues and the Premier League title under the German. He is lauded as one of the best holding midfielders in the world.

However, Wilshere clearly rates Rice and has made that known here. The big test now for Rice is if he does move on to a top four club, can he keep his level and even push on further to get even better. After all, Fabinho does have the trophies to back up his reputation.

TBR’s View: Declan Rice Would Get In Any Premier League Team

While the opinion from Wilshere is subjective and hard to judge, there is no doubt that Declan Rice gets in to any side in the Premier League. And that includes Liverpool, either in place of or alongside Fabinho.

Rice has come on so much in the last two seasons that it’s been a pleasure to watch. He’s grasped his chance in Europe this season as well with the Hammers, proving how good he can be.

Should any club be willing to pay that £100m+ fee, then they’re basically guaranteeing themselves a quality midfielder.
