Jack Wilshere has responded when asked on TalkSPORT (Thursday, 4.10PM) if Tottenham could beat Arsenal to a top-four spot. He says that while Spurs are improving, he is “not worried” about Antonio Conte’s side.

Tottenham remain domestically unbeaten under Conte, since the Italian arrived. Though Spurs have been knocked out of the Europa Conference League after a Mura loss, and a 3-0 forfeited defeat to Rennes – Conte is improving Spurs.

In his five Premier League games in charge, Conte has masterminded three wins and two draws. Beating Leeds, Norwich and Brentford, Conte’s side also drew 0-0 with Everton – and an impressive 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Arsenal currently sit in fourth place, though Spurs have three games in hand over their North London rivals – and sit seven points behind. Wilshere believes that the fight for fourth place will be between four clubs.

He expects Manchester United, West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs will be fighting to finish behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. While he thinks Spurs are improving, he states that Arsenal are also getting better.

“I’m not worried. It will come down between Tottenham, United, Arsenal and West Ham. It will be tight, their form is improving, they are getting better game by game – but so are Arsenal,” Wilshere said.

Wilshere on Tottenham: Can Conte achieve fourth, above Arsenal?

Tottenham, as Wilshere admits, are certainly improving. But whether they are good enough to finish fourth is a whole different question. They certainly look more solid in defence, and Harry Kane got his second league goal last Sunday.

What it could come down to, is if Conte can make a couple of important signings in January. Spurs need a centre-back, a midfielder and potentially cover for Kane if the England skipper does become unavailable.
