Jack Wilshere responds when asked if he'll accept Tottenham job if Conte gets sacked

Jack Wilshere is currently in charge of Arsenal‘s U18s side, but would the Englishman be willing to become Tottenham Hotspur’s manager if they got rid of Antonio Conte?

That was the question put to him on talkSPORT last night by Andy Goldstein as they discussed how far Wilshere wants to go in his managerial career.

Jack Wilshere responds when asked if he’ll accept a job as Tottenham’s manager

Wilshere hung up his playing boots earlier this year after failing to find himself a club that he wanted.

The Englishman was a phenomenal talent when he started his career at Arsenal. Everyone expected him to be a superstar one day, but injuries ruined what could’ve been a glorious career.

Right after he decided to retire as a footballer, Arsenal opened the doors for him to become the head coach of the club’s U18s team. He has been working really hard there and even picked up an impressive 4-1 win over Tottenham not too long ago.

Goldstein quizzed Wilshere about his plans for the future as a manager. “If you did incredibly well with the U18s and then Spurs got rid of Conte and they phoned you up and said ‘do you want to manage the Spurs team’, would you do it?” he asked.

Wilshere said: “You think they’d take me?”

When Goldstein gave George Graham’s example, Wilshere said: “But I’m a little bit more disliked.”

The talkSPORT host then pressed Wilshere for an answer. The Arsenal man only had one thing to say – “No!”

TBR View:

Wilshere is still very, very early in his managerial career.

The Englishman worked under Arsene Wenger for years, and he’s pretty close to Mikel Arteta as well now. That should really help him develop his skills, but a job in the Premier League is surely still a few years away at least.

As for the Tottenham job, there’s no way Spurs fans will take him after everything he has said about them in the past.

Going by Wilshere’s answer, he wouldn’t take the job even if it was offered to him. Arsenal fans will absolutely love that response!
