Jack Wilshere responds to Rangers fan on Instagram when asked about Ibrox links

Jack Wilshere completed a move to Championship side Bournemouth after the turn of the year and has impressed for the Cherries, despite being linked with Rangers – and the midfielder has responded to a fan on Instagram over links to Ibrox.

Wilshere, 29, has had a hand in three goals during his eight appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth since joining the club on a free transfer. Since the arrival of Jonathan Woodgate, he has been in and out of the side, perhaps keeping him fresh.

The 34-time England midfielder rejoined the Cherries after being released by Premier League side West Ham last summer. He has since been in Dubai working on his fitness, earning a contract until the summer with Bournemouth.

Wilshere was linked with Rangers but clearly – a move never came about despite admitting, as per the Sun, that: “[Rangers] would interest me because it’s Steven Gerrard and that’s no disrespect to Scotland.” Now, he has responded to a Rangers fan.

TBR’s view – Wilshere clearly has the talent for Rangers

But it is whether he can play on a regular basis, and in his early days at Bournemouth – which is his second spell with the club – he has been left on the bench twice. It is a sign that either Bournemouth are being careful, or he needs resting.

Rangers play two games a week, most weeks. Their participation in two cup competitions, which they are expected to win, the Europa League – or potentially Champions League next season – and the league, means games come thick and fast.

Wilshere has enormous quality and the kind of level Rangers would benefit from. But on current viewing, he would have to be in and out of the side more than the likes of Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and even veteran Steven Davis.
