Jack Wilshere makes Thomas Partey prediction

Jack Wilshere has told Highbury Squad that he believes Thomas Partey will come good for Arsenal this season, insisting that the Gunners have a very good player on their hands.

Mikel Arteta’s men made a huge statement last year when they triggered the midfielder’s release clause.

Unfortunately, it proved to be a hugely disappointing campaign at the Emirates. And in truth, the 28-year-old did not have the best year.

He certainly showed glimpses of his quality. However, it is probably fair to say that he did not make the impact that most fans hoped he would.

The supporters probably do not blame Partey too much for that. Arteta was seemingly unable to put a midfield together that brought the best out of the Ghana international.

Of course, Arsenal have been incredibly busy this summer. And Wilshere has insisted that he is expecting Partey to take his game to another level next year.

“I like Partey,” he told Highbury Squad. “I think there’s more to come from him. He had ups and downs last season.

“But I think he’s going to come good this season. He’s a real good player. I played against him a few times and he’s very good.”

Partey surely the biggest beneficiary of Arsenal signing Albert Sambi Lokonga

Arsenal signing Albert Sambi Lokonga looks to be a real coup. And Partey may be the player who benefits most from his arrival.

The pair tick different boxes. And Lokonga’s presence may allow Partey to use his amazing energy more often to drive the Gunners up the pitch.

Obviously, other factors will have an impact on how Partey fares. Lokonga is still a young player so it is asking a lot for the summer signing to immediately become a stalwart of Arteta’s side.

Partey also had problems with injuries last season. So he will be hoping to have a little more luck on that front.

If he does, Wilshere will clearly not be surprised if he proves to be an outstanding performer for the Gunners.
