Jack Wilshere has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he believes Euro 2020 will be the making of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane. The England skipper failed to impress in England’s first outing against Croatia. But Wilshere believes that Kane will start firing and have a tournament to remember.
Kane, 27, comes into the tournament off the back of mass speculation surrounding his future. That continues to dominate headlines, with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all interested. But Wilshere does not believe that the rumours will affect his performances.
Asked about the Tottenham star, ex-Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Wilshere – who is now a free agent – responded. He claimed that Euro 2020 will be Kane’s tournament in which flourishes on the international stage. Wilshere believes that he can emulate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He has grown. He has improved as a leader as well, which will be key in this team,” Wilshere said. “I think this is his tournament. We have heard him speak recently, with Gary Neville, he said that he wants to get to the levels of Messi and Ronaldo. And this is where you get to them levels.”

Is a good Euro 2020 for Kane, bad news for Tottenham – amid Wilshere prediction?
Everyone knows what Kane can do. He is a brilliant striker, up there with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema at the moment. But could a bad tournament – which has got off to a subdued start for the Spurs ace – actually help Spurs? Could a bad tournament see interest subside?
Probably not. Kane is already an icon in Premier League terms, he is a proven goalscorer in the world’s most-competitive league. So, if he does have a tricky tournament – it will hardly deter the likes of Manchester City.
