Jack Wilshere has posted a six-word message on Instagram after Arsenal teenager Amani Richards penned professional terms with the Gunners – the England man replying to the youngster’s post.
Richards, 17, has been a regular for the club’s Under-18 side – playing 12 times of late in the Under-18 Premier League. Such form has seen him break into the Under-23’s. He came on as a sub against West Ham in May.
The Gunners have chosen to avoid similar issues they have had with the likes of Folarin Balogun – by handing the striker professional terms and getting him tied down for as long as possible.
Richards spoke of how it is a dream come true to have signed professional terms at Arsenal. The club he has supported all his life, he now has a shot of making a career with the Gunners – and he posted on Instagram.
Wilshere on Richards: Arsenal star earns praise from Gunners icon
It is a good time to sign an Arsenal contract, as a striker. Richards can play up top, or as a left winger. But The Gunners are about to lose both Eddie Nketiah, and Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer.
Even if Arsenal do bring in another striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems past it and at 33 – he is well below his best. The likes of Balogun and potentially Richards could take advantage over the next few seasons.
Wilshere, who has been training with Arsenal’s first team, and coaching with the younger players – responded with a six-word message to Richards.
