The assumption that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the fastest Arsenal player is one a lot of people will hold, but Jack Wilshere has claimed that it’s another Gunners star leading that race.
Aubameyang has long been seen as a ‘speed demon’ in terms of strikers around Europe. He built a reputation for his pace in Dortmund, and has carried that into The Emirates as well.

However, all is not as it might seem at London Colney. Speaking to Talksport yesterday, Jack Wilshere – who is back training with his former club – admitted that it’s someone else who tops the speed charts.
“You know what it was surprising. We were doing a sprint test today and I was saying to the guy like ‘who’s the fastest, is it Aubameyang?’ And he was like no, it’s Tierney”, Wilshere said.
“It surprised me.”
Tierney, a £25m signing from Celtic, has become something of a fan-favourite at The Emirates. His tenacious style, work-rate, and will to win have ensured Gunners fans have taken to him.
Wilshere, meanwhile, is still training with Arsenal as he looks to get his career back on track somehow.
TBR’s View: Tierney over Aubameyang only a minor surprise
It’s always fun to get some insight into who is the fastest player at a club, and it’s no different with Arsenal here.
And while it might come as a bit of a shock to read about Tierney, really, it shouldn’t. Such is his work-ethic, it’s not surprising to see him up there in any test at the club.
Of course, players are naturally quicker than others. But you can put work in to improve. So it’s little wonder the Scot is right up there now.
Tierney has been a masterstroke signing from Arsenal in fairness. But for the odd injury, some might even consider him the best left-back in the league.
