Jack Simpson has posted on Instagram after completing a move from English side Bournemouth to Rangers on deadline day, having previously signed a pre-contract agreement – and ex-Ibrox midfielder Emerson Hyndman has responded.
Simpson, 24, had agreed a pre-contract move to Rangers that was expected to see the centre-back swap Bournemouth for Rangers at the end of his contract in the summer. But George Edmundson left the club to join Wayne Rooney’s Derby on loan.
That has left Rangers with just Filip Helander, Leon Balogun and Connor Goldson as viable first-team options – as Niko Katic continues to undergo rehab to come back into the side after a long-term injury. So, Rangers have moved early for Simpson.
Much like the move that has also seen Scott Wright join from Aberdeen and Glen Kamara from Dundee – Rangers have lured Simpson to Ibrox having already agreed a pre-contract deal. Simpson has posted on Instagram, after penning a deal until 2025.

Simpson has only played 35 times at professional level for Bournemouth, being in and out of Jason Tindall’s side this season. Certainly, he has not yet lived up to the hype surrounding his signature – but Rangers see potential in him.
He may struggle to get game time initially, but Simpson is clearly delighted to move north of the border to a side that are in the knockout rounds of the Europa League. Hyndman, who had a hand in eight goals during 17 games for the Gers, responded.
