Anthony Georgiou has completed a permanent move to Cypriot side AEL Limassol from Tottenham Hotspur and Under-23 teammate Jack Roles has sent an Instagram message to his new club – telling him they’ve got themselves a player.

Georgiou, 23, has left Spurs having entered the final six months of his contract with the North London club. He made his debut against APOEL Nicosia under Mauricio Pochettino in the Champions League – but has failed to add to that.

Following loan spells at Ipswich Town, Bolton and Levante’s B-team, Georgiou has now left Spurs to return to his home country – a nation where he has seven caps. Indeed, he has joined AEL Limassol on a permanent basis.

Tottenham confirmed the news on their website while Limassol posted confirmation on their Instagram page. Limassol currently sit in fourth place in the Cypriot league – but have a game in hand over the three sides ahead of them.

Georgiou ended up playing a huge 46 times for the club’s reserves, with the presence of both Ben Davies and Danny Rose preventing him from featuring more in the senior side. He can also play on the wing, but Son Heung-min is well ahead of him.

Playing alongside midfielder Roles in the Under-23 team, Georgiou clearly struck up a friendship – and Roles has now sent a message to Limassol, on a video of Georgiou’s signing, about their new left-footer.
