This season Nottingham Forest made plenty of eye-catching new additions to the first-team. They spent big on Joao Carvalho, brought in the Championship’s top-scorer in Lewis Grabban and former Forest star Michael Dawson.
One arrival that perhaps went under the radar was that of Jack Robinson.
The 25-year-old arrived on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with QPR. His injury-plagued spell at Loftus Road had come to an end in a positive fashion, with an impressive 2017-18.

Forest, therefore, were more than willing to give him a go.
It has proved to be one of the bargain deals of the season.
“He did tell me that was the plan. I knew the situation with Forest and left-backs in recent years. I know they had struggled for left-backs in recent seasons…
“I hope I can pin down that spot and ensure that it is not a problem now. I just want to keep working hard and hopefully that will help me to pin down that position.”
– Robinson on his left-back role
Robinson has become a regular in the Nottingham Forest side in a position they have struggled to fill for many seasons. Dani Pinillos, Bojan Jokic, Juan Fuentes, Chris Cohen Dan Harding, Ben Osborn, Erich Lichaj and Danny Fox are all players who have tried to make the position their own in recent seasons. Considering Pinillos suffered a career-threatening injury in the role, Fuentes broke his leg on debut and Cohen has now retired, the word ‘curse’ has been used.
Aitor Karanka has entrusted Robinson with the left-back role, a responsibility he has taken on with aplomb.
Robinson has started 12 of Forest’s last 13 league games. The only fixture he missed was due to a suspension.
It seems he has finally ended Forest’s curse at left-back.
