Jack Harrison responds when asked if Leeds can equalify for Europe

Jack Harrison has told The Telegraph that there is no reason why Leeds United cannot qualify for European football this season, after making an exciting start to Premier League football under Marcelo Bielsa.

Of the three promoted sides, Leeds are sailing high while West Brom and Fulham continue to struggle. Wins over Sheffield United, Fulham and then Aston Villa have been followed up by a point against Man City, and defeats to Liverpool and Wolves.

But after last Friday’s 3-0 win over Villa – who had previously won all four of their league games – has given Leeds confidence and if the rest of the Premier League had not been aware of the Whites beforehand, they are now.

Harrison, 23, is in his third season-long loan spell at Leeds and continues to shine on the left flank. Just four appearances why of a century in Leeds colours, the £15,000-a-week (Spotrac) star responded when asked if Leeds can qualify for Europe.

“We have to set our bar high and as a team always trying to reach our goals and we would absolutely love to qualify for Europe,” Harrison said. “It’s a high standard, but if we continue on our path I don’t see why it’s not possible.”

TBR’s view – Can Leeds really finish in the European places?

Leeds would have to break into the top six if they are to have a chance of doing just that. Sheffield United came within a whisker of doing it in their first season after promotion last term, while Wolves did it in 2018-19 after promotion.

In a topsy-turvy season, anyone can finish anywhere. The Premier League is becoming more and more unpredictable, with any club capable of beating anyone. Leeds can take advantage and there is certainly a chance Leeds can finish in the top six.
