Jack Harrison labels Leeds’s Gjanni Alioski an ideal teammate

Jack Harrison has told Leeds United’s official YouTube channel that Gjanni Alioski is the ideal teammate to have, and insisted that he loves playing alongside the wide-man.

Alioski is arguably one of the most popular members of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad amongst the fans. He has come in for criticism during his time at Elland Road, particularly during his first 18 months with the club.

But the supporters appreciate his tireless displays, and absolutely adore some of his bizarre antics.

Bielsa clearly loves the North Macedonia international. He has featured in 13 of Leeds’ 14 league games this term, scoring twice from left-back.

And Harrison – who earns £51,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – suggested that he is just as popular amongst his teammates as he answered questions from supporters. The Englishman lauded Alioski for his performances on the pitch, and for his character and attitude away from it.

“He has all the good things and all the bad things rolled in together in one. Definitely more good than bad,” he joked when asked about his teammate on Leeds’s official YouTube channel. “He’s a great teammate to have. He’s always making jokes and making people laugh, and I feel like that’s really important on the team.

“Playing on the pitch, you know he’s going to give everything he’s got. He’s so passionate, and he runs so much as well. He’s an ideal teammate, it’s great to be playing with him. I love it.”

The 27-year-old has deserved some of the criticism that has come his way at times. But there is no question that he has been a very good signing for Leeds. And he appears to be well on his way to securing cult-hero status.

Alioski has scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists in 99 league appearances. And he has arguably enjoyed the best spell of his Leeds career since being moved to left-back under Bielsa.

It has allowed the former Lugano man to show just how hard he works. And as Harrison’s comments suggest, he is as popular now as he ever has been since arriving at Elland Road.
