Everton have completed the signing of Manchester City’s Jack Grealish ahead of the Premier League kick-off against Leeds United.

David Moyes has cut a frustrated figure during the summer transfer window, but August business will have surely cheered him right up.

Deals to sign Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, and Adam Aznou may have left Toffees fans feeling that the starting XI hadn’t really been improved.

Everton snapped up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall last week, and have now followed that move with a deal to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City.

Grealish has now been presented as a new Everton player, having penned a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in 2026.

Jack Grealish record v Leeds United ahead of potential Everton debut

Grealish has fallen out of Pep Guardiola’s plans at City and must now rebuild his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The 29-year-old managed just one goal in 20 Premier League appearances last season, with Moyes now looking to get him back on track.

That could all start at Leeds United on Monday, as Everton travel to Elland Road for the first ‘Monday Night Football’ of the new Premier League season.

Grealish will look to make an immediate impression for Everton, and he boasts a decent record against Leeds.

Grealish has faced Leeds on nine occasions through his career, six times with Aston Villa and another three with City.

The England international has recorded four wins, three draws, and two defeats in those nine games, and Everton fans may be excited by his goal contributions against Leeds.

Grealish has bagged one goal and four assists against Leeds, including two assists in his last appearance against the Whites, which was a 3-1 City win in December 2022.

Five goal involvements in nine games against Leeds is a decent record, and he could add to that record as Everton head to West Yorkshire on Monday.

David Moyes’ influence on Jack Grealish

Grealish will hope to impress Moyes enough in training to play some role against Leeds – most likely from the bench.

In a clip posted on Everton’s official X account, Grealish admitted that boss Moyes was a major factor behind his move to Merseyside.

Grealish told Seamus Coleman and James Tarkowski that he was so impressed by Moyes that he made Everton his top priority.

Grealish told his agent that he didn’t want to move anywhere else, and is now delighted to be playing for Everton after some tough away trips over the years.

“Do you know what, people are going to think ‘oh he’s just saying that because he’s there’, but I’m not,” said Grealish.

“I said to Seamus this morning, and to Tarky, I said ‘when I had my first chat with the manager, that was the reason why I wanted to come here.

“That was one of the reasons, probably the main reason why I wanted to come here, after speaking to him. I even said to my agent ‘from now, I don’t want to go anywhere else. If we can get this deal done, I want to go and play for Everton’.

“I’ve always known how big this club is, and especially playing at Goodison Park over the years, it’s been so tough, the fans here are incredible, it’s such a difficult place to come and play,” he added.

Grealish’s Everton debut could come on the road at Leeds, but he will be raring to go for the first home game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion.
