Jack Grealish sends message to Ezri Konsa on Instagram after Aston Villa draw
Jack Grealish has lauded Ezri Konsa after the Aston Villa defender took to Instagram to express his delight at being named captain for the club for the first time in their clash with Brentford on Saturday.
Dean Smith’s side were forced to share the points with his former club at Villa Park. Emi Buendia scored after 13 minutes to cancel out Ivan Toney’s opener for the visitors.
It has been a tough start to the campaign for Villa. They have one win from their opening three fixtures in the Premier League. And they have taken one point from their first two games against newly-promoted sides.
But there were some positives for the Villans. Buendia scored his first goal for the club. Carney Chukwuemeka meanwhile, impressed in midfield.
And Konsa did well as he captained the side. Tyrone Mings was amongst those to miss the game. And that presented his centre-back partner with the opportunity to wear the armband.
Konsa took to Instagram following the draw to comment on skippering the side for Saturday’s clash.
And amongst those to reply was the club’s former captain Grealish, with the Manchester City man lauding the 23-year-old…
Konsa set to captain Aston Villa many more times in the future
It is remarkable to think that Konsa does not even turn 24 until October. He has already established himself as one of the most impressive defenders in the Premier League.
And it seems to be a matter of time before he gets an opportunity on the international stage.
If Villa hold onto the defender for the coming years, it seems more than likely that he will get the chance to wear the armband on a regular basis at some stage.
