Jack Grealish has sent an Instagram message to Manchester City superstar Raheem Sterling as Pep Guardiola’s side secured all three points with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa – though the game was not without controversy.

Bernardo Silva made the breakthrough in the second half, slamming an effort into the top corner from just outside of the penalty area. Ilkay Gundogan made it 2-0 late on with a penalty, calmly slotting the ball down the middle.

Emi Martinez made numerous excellent saves, denying the likes of Sterling, Silva and other City stars – while Joao Cancelo hit the bar after a lovely pass from Kevin De Bruyne. But Villa’s players were not impressed.

From an offside position, Rodri tackled Tyrone Mings before Silva scored. Villa players were fuming on social media as Dean Smith was sent off – though many would argue City deserved the win. Sterling posted on Instagram.

Grealish, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Manchester City – with The Independent claiming Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne both want the 25-year-old at The Etihad. He certainly impressed on Wednesday.

At times he glided past Joao Cancelo, after Kyle Walker went off injured and was as creative as he was comfortable in possession. He responded to Sterling, his England teammate, on Instagram with a five-word message.
