Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat on the south coast to strugglers Brighton but Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was still impressed with one Spurs player – posting a three-word verdict on Instagram.

Without Harry Kane, Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game in the first half after a neat pull back from Pascal Gross. Spurs failed to make the breakthrough, despite Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale and more starting.

The defeat has seen Spurs lose two successive matches in the Premier League, following a 3-1 loss at home to Liverpool before Sunday evening’s loss. Kane is expected to be sidelined for the majority of February.

But despite the loss, Villa captain Grealish – who came within an inch of joining Tottenham in 2018 – was full of praise for Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. He gave a three-word verdict on his story, during the match.

TBR’s view – Ndombele was a rare bright spark

Certainly, he is a different player to the one that struggled in his first season at Spurs. On Sunday, even though Spurs lost, he showed fight and work rate – something he lacked last term. He tried to drive his side forward.

But it was not enough. Poor displays from the likes of Bale, Steven Bergwijn and numerous others let Spurs down. Carlos Vinicius also came off the bench to impress and while there are positives, Mourinho will be frustrated.
