Jack Grealish not the answer if Christian Eriksen leaves Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur fans are starting to become concerned over the long-term future of Danish star Christian Eriksen. The playmaker has been linked with a host of top European clubs recently and is still to commit his long-term future to the club.

With the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and PSG all said to be lurking, that’s understandable.

Spurs would certainly need to sign a replacement in his place. One player that immediately springs to mind is Jack Grealish. Tottenham failed to sign a single player in the summer. However, the one they came closest to snapping up was the Aston Villa man.

As reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham failed with a £25 million bid for the midfielder in the summer. The player was expected to be sold due to Aston Villa’s financial problems. However, Tottenham dawdled for too long and by the time a bid arrived, those issues had been sorted. Grealish ended up signing a new deal at Villa Park. That deal reportedly contains a release clause, but at a much higher price than what Spurs were willing to pay in the summer. The Times suggests it is in the region of £45 million.

Tottenham should make sure they are not considering Grealish as a replacement for Eriksen.

The Villa player is talented. However, Tottenham were right to be targeting him when they thought he would be available on the cheap.

At a higher price than what they were willing to pay in the summer, Tottenham should steer clear.

The 23-year-old is simply not worth that amount of money and when it comes to Eriksen, he is far behind the Dane in respect of talent.

If Tottenham lose Eriksen he will need to be replaced. Grealish is not the answer.
