Jack Grealish lauds Aston Villa teammate on Instagram after draw
Jack Grealish has admitted on Instagram that he was not good enough during Aston Villa’s draw with Brighton on Saturday, before going on to label Emi Martinez’s display outstanding.
Dean Smith’s side missed the chance to move to within two points of the current top four. In truth, they were fortunate to see out a goalless draw against the Seagulls.
As shown by Whoscored.com, Brighton had 26 attempts on goal during the game. Villa by contrast, had just four.
It was not a night in which any of the visitors’ attacking players shone. Grealish, in particular, struggled to make anything like his usual impact on the game.
But there does seem to be one Villa player who is receiving a host of plaudits following the stalemate.
Once again, Martinez produced an incredible performance to keep Brighton at bay. The goalkeeper made a number of fantastic saves to secure yet another clean sheet.
In total, he made nine stops during the draw (via Whoscored). So it is little surprise that Grealish has singled the 28-year-old out as he commented on the result on social media.
Villa’s talisman was critical of his own display at the Amex Stadium. But he clearly had no doubt as to who the man of the match was.
Here is what Grealish posted…
