Jack Grealish and Leon Bailey left blown away by £33m Aston Villa player vs Arsenal yesterday

Both Jack Grealish and Leon Bailey were incredibly impressed with one Aston Villa player in the win against Arsenal yesterday.

Unai Emery’s side eventually produced a masterclass in the second half at the Emirates, completing a league double against the manager’s old club.

The result and the performance were further reminders of just how far this Aston Villa side have come, boding confidence of a top four finish and perhaps a European honour.

Diego Carlos was immense at the back, a display that was full of class and determination from the off.

And once his Aston Villa teammates met his levels in the second half, there was very little Arsenal could do.

If Mikel Arteta’s side looked tired and bereft of ideas, then the away side were quite the opposite.

Villa were controlling the game in the middle, even without Douglas Luiz.

And when you have a finisher as good as Ollie Watkins up top, well you’ve always got a chance of getting a result.

Of course, having scored Villa’s second goal yesterday, a delightfully deft chip, Watkins did take to Instagram to celebrate the win.

And having scored his 19th goal of the league season, the striker uploaded four photos with a caption of: “A lot of people doubting me this year, I only use it as motivation.”

And as you may expect, a host of Watkins’ teammates replied with their congratulations.

Among the replies Leon Bailey wrote: “What a player” leaving three fire emojis as well.

And former Aston Villa player Jack Grealish even left his support too, sharing three emojis on the post.

It’s been a remarkable campaign for the £33m-striker, who now has such a strong chance of stealing the Golden Boot away from Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian is guaranteed to grab a few more goals as Manchester City likely stroll towards a fourth consecutive title now, but there’s no reason to think Watkins can’t match or even better that pace.

All that being said, Declan Rice did also praise the Villa striker following yesterday’s match, saying he didn’t stop all game.
