Jack Clarke and Sam Greenwood react as Leeds player leaves permanently
Jordan Stevens has left Leeds to join Barrow, posting on Instagram – prompting reaction from Jack Clarke, Sam Greenwood and others.
Stevens, 21, joined Leeds in January 2018 after breaking into the senior side at League Two club Forest Green Rovers. He played 15 times for FGR.
At Leeds, under Marcelo Bielsa, he got six senior appearances and played in the pre-season trip to Australia. He was a regular for Leeds at U23 level.
Last season, he went on loan to Swindon Town at the start of the 2020-21 campaign – but it was cut short in January after just one goal in 15 games.
He joined Bradford following his Swindon loan but after failing to lay on a goal or an assist in 16 games – he has been let go permanently.
Stevens leaves Leeds: Clarke, Greenwood and others react
Stevens has completed a permanent move to League Two side Barrow – with the winger penning a two-year deal at the fourth-tier club.
He is not the only player to have swapped Leeds for Barrow. Robbie Gotts also swapped Leeds for the Cumbria-based side this summer.
It is a shame for both players, who had promised much during the Championship era under Bielsa. Promotion proved too much for the duo.
Better players reduced their chances of game time – and ultimately it has forced them to go on loan. Under-23 football is beneath both players.
Tottenham talent Clarke, who Leeds sold to Spurs for £10million, and Greenwood responded – among others responded to Stevens and his move.
