Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro.

The transfer insider, writing on GiveMeSport, says the Whites are looking at a few left-backs ahead of the deadline.

Leeds are currently without Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas, who are on the sidelines due to injury.

Jesse Marsch has used Pascal Struijk at left-back in the Whites’ first two Premier League games of the season.

With just two weeks left before deadline day, Leeds haven’t got too long if they’re to get reinforcements over the line.

Guerreiro would be a high-calibre addition to Marsch’s ranks.

The 28-year-old has made 191 appearances for Dortmund, registering 34 goals and 37 assists.

He has also won 54 caps for Portugal, helping his nation triumph at Euro 2016 and in the 2019 Nations League.

“A few that they’re looking at”

Jones has told GiveMeSport that Guerreiro is just one left-back who Leeds are currently considering.

He said: “Raphael Guerreiro’s a name I’ve heard mentioned. There are a few that they’re looking at.

“It might be that they end up doing a loan or something from one of Europe’s bigger clubs once they know that there are people that don’t fit into the plans elsewhere.”

As well as Leeds, Manchester City are reportedly still eyeing Guerrero, despite having signed Sergio Gomez.

Dortmund manager Edin Terzic lauded the defender last year, saying: “[He is] an amazing player.

“So you see especially against a deep defending side, we want him to get on the ball because he makes things happen.”
