‘I’ve been waiting’… Pundit says £42m Tottenham player is finally living up to his expectations now

Cristian Romero arrived at Tottenham with a big reputation.

The centre-half had just been named as the Serie A Defender of the Year when he arrived at Spurs, while he would be a World Cup winner not too long after joining Tottenham as well.

However, while Romero arrived with big expectations, it did take him a while to warm up at Tottenham.

Indeed, Romero didn’t exactly hit the ground running upon his arrival at Spurs, but now that he’s warmed up, he’s one of their better players.

Speaking on The Spurs Show, Tottenham Legend, Terry Naylor, has been discussing Romero’s form, and he says that he’s finally living up to his expectations, claiming that he now looks different class on the pitch.

Romero looks different class

Naylor spoke about the £42m man.

“You have to take your hat off to Son, he’s done it week-in week out he looks class. Romero, I’ve been waiting for him, as a defender I love a defensive player, I’m thinking ‘come on, show them what they’re doing wrong, you’re not doing it, you’re not doing it’. That was over the first sort of six games, now, Romero, other than getting sent off, he looks different class. The Dutch boy who has just come back from injury as well looks a class player,” Naylor said.

Much improved

Naylor is spot on, Romero is finally living up to expectations in a Tottenham shirt.

The Argentine finally looks like a World Cup winning £42m centre-half, and that’s largely down to Ange Postecoglou.

The manager has found the perfect partner for Romero in Micky Van de Ven, and his high line suits the Argentine’s front-footed style of play to a tee.

Romero has improved massively over the past few months, and it’s exciting to ponder what the future holds for this Tottenham team with the World Cup winner at the heart of their defence.
