Charlie Patino could be edging closer to making his Arsenal debut, according to Chris Wheatley on his Youtube channel.
Debut incoming?
There is great excitement about Patino’s chances of breaking through at Arsenal, after his performances for their development side.
The 17-year-old has already been utilised in first-team training by Mikel Arteta.
And his performances have apparently caught the eye of Arsenal’s senior players.
Patino could now make his debut in the League Cup clash with AFC Wimbledon next week, with Arteta expected to name him on the bench.
“Charlie Patino likely to be named in upcoming Carabao Cup game against Wimbledon,” he said.
“We probably expect him to be on the bench this game. I’ve been told he’s really impressing the Arsenal players in the first team.”
Bench role deserved?
Arteta put out a strong Arsenal side in the first round of the competition, as they dispatched with West Bromwich Albion, which mean that Patino may not start.

However, if Arsenal are in front, then he is now in position to make his debut – if he is indeed named on the bench.
That would be a monumental occasion for a player so young, but there is confidence that it is only a matter of time before Patino breaks through.
The young creator has already been likened to Jack Wilshere, due to his quality in possession, and it seems that he could be the next special youngster to emerge from an excellent generation of talent at Hale End.
